C.A.R.E. PARTNER CONNECTIONS (CPC)

It is the commitment of GOOD NEWS CONSULTING to provide programs that facilitate high standards of excellence to meet the challenges associated with the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the aged. GOOD NEWS CONSULTING feel that the familiy caregivers are often those challenged the most as they provide care for their loved one with dementia. It is for that reason the CPC was developed in 2009.

Keeping loved ones at home for as long as possible is the goal of the CPC. By equipping family caregivers with dementia care techniques usually taught only to professional caregivers, it is felt by GOOD NEWS CONSULTING that it will facilitate less stress, frustration and anxiety often seen in family caregivers of those with dementia.

Through competency training sessions, the CPC provides family caregivers with techniques that can be used at home with their loved one.

    Session Contents:
  • Dementia Overview
  • Communication and Behavior
  • Helping with Life Skills
  • Activities in the Home
  • Safety in the Home
  • Taking Care of You

Each session is presented in PowerPoint format with handouts, demonstrations and technique practice. Sharing successes and the discussion of solutions to challenges experienced by the participants as they practiced the techniques at home help the family caregivers become competent in the techniques.

In 2010, GOOD NEWS CONSULTING was awarded a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA) to pilot the CPC in York County, PA.
