Therapeutic Engagement Training
This training is designed for people who provide activities programming in nursing homes, personal care homes, assisted living communities and/or adult day services. The goal is to enhance attendees' skills and help them learn how to engage their participants rather than just entertain them.
Attendees will be given the opportunity to participate in and conduct hands-on demonstrations of effective engagement sessions. They will also learn how to develop goals and monitor engagement sessions for participants of all ability levels.
Some of the objectives for this training include (but are not limited to): attendees will understand standards and compliance for activity professionals; attendees will understand the components of person-centered care and quality of life in relation to activity programming; attendees will demonstrate knowledge of the different types of engagement opportunities; and attendees will learn ways to adapt engagement sessions to the varying ability levels of each person.
